The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #13

Challenge #13 Big Fish

Create a fun scene from the movie "Big Fish".  This week's challenge is sponsored by:

and here's some info from TBD challenge blog about this week's sponsor:

"We are dedicated to bringing you high quality unmounted rubber stamps that offer you new and interesting avenues of expression. Our design style is edgy, wild, distinct, and fun. We embrace the unusual, and offer you a unique perspective when it comes to rubber art stamps."

As soon as I saw this image I immediately thought "where are those tarot cards?!!".  Ummm ya, they were a gift.  I'm not exactly a "tarot" girl myself but to each their own.  :)  Well, I searched HIGH and lo for them and they were nowhere.  Then I started thinking this "Internet" thing we are all so fond of MUST have some pics so VOILA!  I found a few and printed them off to be a part of this gypsy's act.

The movie "Big Fish" is about a man always telling big stories about his life to everyone and anyone who would listen.  So many exaggerated stories were told so over the years his son had heard them all many times and never believed them....until his father's funeral, when one by one the characters started showing up.  One of his stories was about him working in the carnival and that's where I went with my card.  What good carnival doesn't have a gypsy or two??

My first picture doesn't really show you how I 3d'ed the flourishes so hopefully you can get an idea from these pictures:

AND CHECK OUT THIS FREAKY PRIZE!!  VERY GENEROUS!!!
All these stamps & the gypsy digi as used above.

My project actually made me giggle as I was making it.  I think these things are so friggin cute!  Each of these little snowmen packages consist of marshmallows and a packette of hot chocolate.  These are sooooo easy to make and very inexpensive if you need a bunch!  :)

Here are all my snowmen napping on the job!!

And now my little soldiers are all standing at attention!!

I even embossed the back of the little package.
What the heck hey?!

And here is a close up so you can see the sentiment.

Friday Sketchers #111

This edition of Heidi and her big jugs......of beer....is for my friend Sheri's husband, Bill, who just had a bit of surgery last week and now is recovery mode.  CHEERS to a successful surgery!  Now I'll send along some mojo healing power.  hee hee  Bill likes beer so what more of an appropriate card to cheer up a guy hey?!!  hee hee snicker

Once again I added Liquid Applique to the foam and even added "guy" glitter.  That's the kind that doesn't glitter too much but just enough to make him thirsty.  LOL!!  This time I also added Glossy Accents to the beer mugs.
I'm also entering it into this week's Friday Sketchers #111 sketch challenge.  I love all the layers on this one.  I must admit that maybe I shouldn't have made my digi image so big.  Ahhh the hazards of learning digi's.  hee hee  But I really enjoyed coloring her.

Stamps:  Victoria Case "Heidi"
Paper: Basic Grey (given to me - thanks Simone!)
Embellishments:  SU buttons, Liquid Applique, Glossy Accents, CTMH hemp and Jillibean Soup journaling sprouts (the label)
Punches:  Quickutz Moxie (?)

Crafty Creations Challenge #76

Just a quick post today.  Isn't this just the cutest stamp?  hee hee Although, I don't really want to send it to anyone - cuz it means they are sick or broke something and that's not fun!  LOL!  I colored this image from Stampavie awhile ago and finally got around to using it now.  Just cuz.  I can't stand having colored images around and not being put on a card.  What a nut!  Ya!  I know it!  :)

So I used the sketch below from Crafty Creations Challenges #76.  I had a hard time backing away from this one as it's just nice & simple like this.  I wanted to put more bling and flowers on it but I controlled myself.  hee hee

"Kickin' It For Michelle" Card Drive

When I saw Michelle Oatman's story my heart went out to her so
I joined the card drive, which you can find over at

Here's a little info from A Spoon Full of Sugar blog, where she happens to be a DT member.

"We would like to share some sad news today, some of you may already know from her blog, our design team member Michelle had an accident about two weeks ago, which has left her with the loss of her right eye and a long road of recovery ahead. In an effort to cheer her up and raise awareness for what happened to Michelle we are holding a card drive in her honor. We have many generous companies and individuals helping us with this special card drive and we hope you will help too!

We are asking that everyone please create a card in dedication to Michelle and mail it off to her. We would love nothing more than to flood her mailbox with well wishes from around the world. Michelle has shared so much of herself on her blog and in her design team work and this is a just a small way for us to give back to her."

If you would like to learn more please visit A Spoon Full of Sugar

So, this is my little piece I'm sending over to her.  Isn't that the cutest image?  I got it from Whimsy Stamps and it's a freebie there so if you get a chance, please grab it and make up a card for Michelle.

And as you know me, I always make my cards dual purpose but my 2nd purpose wasn't as dedicated (no offence) as the first purpose.  I used one of my favorite blogs:

Stamps:  Meljen's Freebie Donkey
Paper: Crate Paper "Brook Collection"
Embellishments: Misc ribbon, Basic Grey Opaline pearls, Stardust Stickles, pearl ribbon slider buckle from Wild Orchid Crafts UK and Zva pearls.

The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #11

"Wood" You Like To Be In A Movie?

Challenge #11 is all about Ed Wood and his movies.  From what I understand they were always black and white so this week your challenge is to come up with a project "a la Ed Wood" using any image.  I love making black & white cards!  They are hard to take pics of if you add glitter tho so I've put 2 views in my post today.

This week we are sponsored by Tickled Pink Stamps and the image I've used is 20s Evie from the new Fashonette line.  You can purchase your stamps at Tickled Pink Stamps and they are still on sale!!  Woo hoo!!  She is soooo adorable!!

Friday Sketchers #110

I saw this image on one of the DT members blog a week or two ago and HAD to have it!!  Sometimes I get stumped on images for guys but what beer luvin' guy would pass up Heidi from Victoria Case?  It's for my BIL - snicker.

I used Friday Sketchers sketch (you can see below) and added some Liquid Applique to the beer foam, which I think you can actually see!  I even added some sparkle but it's sooo white that it didn't show up.  Darn.

Inside the card I teased my sister about not sitting still long enough so I could finish drawing her legs.  AAAAA ha ha!  She's gonna kill me!!  Thankfully she has a great sense of ha-ha!!

Stamps:  Victoria Case "Heidi"
Paper: Bo Bunny "Paradise"
Embellishments:  SU buttons, Scrapper's Floss, Moxie (I think) Quickutz alphabet, Liquid Applique and misc glitter.

Papertake Challenge #44

Ok so I've decided that my cards are and always will be multi-functional cards.  It just motivates me to make more of a kick-a-- card. YEEHAW!!  (FYI - I live in cow country - always have always will)  Whether it works or not, that's what I'm going for!

SO!!  A fellow DT member put out a request for us to make a card for a little boy down in the US who got hit by a car on his bike.  She says "It was pretty bad and at first they thought he was going to be paralized but thank goodness for those bike helmets b/c he's now expected to make a full recovery. He's at home in a lot of pain with a broken jaw now."

I thought what a better time then now to finally use CHRISTIAN of Simply Betty Stamps.  Isn't he adorable?!!  Oh just what a tween boy would want to be called.  LOL!!

I also needed inspiration so grabbed the sketch below from Papertake Weekly Challenge.  All supplies are listed below.  I'm LOVIN' this Bo Bunny "Paradise" paper line.  It's nice to use for mens/boys cards (which you'll see tomorrow too) for something different instead of blues or browns all the time.  I think I've colored every fishing, hunting, atv'ing stamp out there so this was a nice change!

I made this card as "embellishment simple" as I could since it had a long way to go in the mail.  That was hard.  LOL!!

Stamps:  Simply Betty Stamps "Christian"
Paper: Bo Bunny "Paradise"
Embellishments: Misc brads and CB dots folder
Punches:  MS border punch
Ink: Colored With Copics and Momento Ink
